just a note on post process heat treating copper alloys. most copper alloys will not get harder but softer with heat treating. we can harden beryllium copper alloys but everything else is either zone or batch annealed. sometimes stress relieved. there are cnc spinning lathes now so labor costs are not as much as they used to be.
